Really? Can the marketing agent of this new multi-unit condo development down the street from me write this with a straight face? “Breaking the Mold” ?!?! –

Sazerac: After years of looking forward to trying the once-banned alcoholic beverage absinthe I finally got my chance a couple of weeks ago in a chichi Chicago bar. It was good; much smoother than I expected with a complex black licorice and anise flavor that would go well with…
almost nothing.
Now I have a new libation to pursue – the sazerac, just named the Official Cocktail of New Orleans and the subject of a great NPR story.

Right to Bear Arms: I have not read the SCOTUS opinion yet (over 150 pages), but a very good analysis is available from Marcia Coyle of PBS’s NewsHour. Most interesting is her suggestion that the 2nd Amendment may not apply to the States. Meanwhile the law in D.C. goes back to 1976 and Mayor Daley of Chicago is pissed.

iPod Playlist: Seems the latest way to judge a political candidate is a peek at what’s playing on their headphones – Interesting comparison between Obama’s picks in this month’s issue of Rolling Stone –
“Bob Dylan. Yo-Yo Ma. Sheryl Crow. Jay-Z. “
and Bush’s released in 2005 –
“His 250 songs include country greats George Jones and Alan Jackson, but also My Sharona by the Knack.”
